Machine vision has greatly advanced during the last decade. With the advent of multi-mega-pixel CCD imaging devices, the resolution of machine vision systems has increased ten fold. Several types of vision systems on the market will be discussed along with their advantages. Types of applications that machine vision systems can solve will be presented. Considerations that need to be made in order for their successful implementation, including lighting, will be reviewed. The capabilities of these systems, their small size and low cost, long life and reliability are simply amazing, especially for those involved in this technology 15 or 20 years ago.

John Stamos earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 2004. He started his professional career with Hiwin Corporation as an applications engineer for linear motion control products, then moved to a territory sales position. In February 2007, John joined Cognex as a sales engineer and works in that position today. John is planning to begin an MBA in March, on a part time basis, at the University of Chicago - Booth School of Business.

Please note that we have changed the meeting date from the third Wednesday of the month to the second Wednesday.  Many members have indicated that the third Wednesday conflicts with other professional organizations so we will be having our meetings on the second Wednesday each month this year.
